Product safety
You are buying from Joseph Schembri, trading as Dickens, of Bisazza Street, Sliema, SLM 1640, Malta (info@dickens.com.mt, telephone +356 2133 3562). "We" means him.
Why this page exists
EU law, the General Product Safety Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/988, asks every online shop to show who stands behind a product and how to reach them. This page explains how we do that, and what we do and do not do ourselves.
Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Article 19.
Who makes what we sell, and how to reach them
Every product page links to manufacturer and safety information for its brand. That page lists, for each manufacturer, their name and postal and electronic address, and (for brands based outside the EU) the name and address of their EU "responsible person", the entity the law requires to stand behind a product here when its maker does not.
Where a manufacturer has never published these details anywhere we can find, that page says so plainly. We do not guess at an address, and we do not invent one.
Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Article 19(a) and (b); Article 16(1).
We do not sell anything under our own name
Everything we sell carries its own manufacturer's brand. Dickens does not manufacture anything, and nothing we sell carries the Dickens name or logo as if we had made it. Under EU law, a shop that puts its own name or trade mark on a product becomes that product's manufacturer, with the full set of manufacturer duties. That does not apply to anything we sell.
Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Article 13(1).
We do not modify or refurbish anything before we sell it
We sell what the manufacturer made, as they made it. We do not fit parts, flash firmware, or refurbish stock before it reaches you. A shop that substantially changes a product before selling it can become that product's manufacturer in law, for the part it changed; again, not something that applies here.
Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Article 13(2).
If something you bought is recalled
If a manufacturer tells us a product needs to be recalled for a safety reason, we contact everyone we can identify as having bought it, directly; our order records show who bought what. You do not have to be watching the news or checking a manufacturer's website to hear about it from us.
Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Article 35(1).
The language of safety warnings
Any safety warning that comes with what you buy from us is in English.
Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Article 19(d).
