The Redmi 17 is built around its battery. At 7500 mAh Xiaomi rates it for two days of use and up to 91 hours of music, and it charges at up to 45 W, reaching full in 96 minutes with a 45 W adapter (Xiaomi does not put an adapter in the box). The same USB-C port charges earbuds or another phone at 22.5 W.
The 6.9-inch screen runs at up to 120 Hz behind Gorilla Glass 7i, and the phone is rated IP64 with a Wet Touch mode for rain. Inside is a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra with 4 GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable by microSD to 2 TB through the hybrid SIM tray. It runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3, and Xiaomi promises a like-new software experience for 36 months.
The 50 MP main camera is paired with an auxiliary lens and an 8 MP front camera, both recording 1080p video. A 3.5 mm headphone jack, FM radio and a side fingerprint reader are all present. This is the Black finish. Xiaomi calls the phone simply Redmi 17; we list it as 4G to tell it apart from the Redmi 17 5G.
