Largest Aperture in the XCD P Series - f/3.4 with Natural Bokeh
The XCD 3,4/75P breaks new ground in the P series by pushing the maximum aperture to f/3.4 - wider than the f/4 of both the XCD 4/28P and XCD 4/45P. Combined with the 75mm focal length and its natural subject compression, this aperture produces beautifully smooth, natural background separation that is particularly flattering for portrait work. Hasselblad describes its bokeh performance as rivalling the XCD 2,8/65, one of the most respected portrait lenses in the X System, but in a body that is 45% lighter.
10-Element Optical Design with Three ED Elements for 100MP Performance
The XCD 3,4/75P uses a sophisticated optical structure of ten elements in ten groups, incorporating one aspherical element and three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements. The aspherical element controls aberration and maintains sharpness from centre to corner across the full medium format frame. The three ED elements aggressively suppress chromatic dispersion - colour fringing and aberration caused by different wavelengths of light focusing at different distances - delivering clean, neutral, high-contrast images with vibrant and lifelike colours. The result fully meets the resolution demands of Hasselblad's 100-megapixel sensors.
45% Lighter and 24% Shorter Than the XCD 2,8/65
Despite its optical ambition, the XCD 3,4/75P is a remarkably compact lens. At 398g and 71mm in length, it is 45% lighter and 24% shorter than the XCD 2,8/65, making it genuinely portable for street photographers and travel portrait shooters who cannot afford to carry heavy glass. Its sleek metal body carries the signature Hasselblad design language with a focus ring engraved with the H pattern.
Linear Stepping Motor with PDAF for Fast, Silent Autofocus
The XCD 3,4/75P uses a linear stepping motor driving a compact, lightweight internal focus group. The linear stepping motor delivers more precise control over the focus position and eliminates mechanical backlash, while the lighter focusing group moves faster than traditional designs. Paired with the phase-detection autofocus of the X2D 100C or X2D II 100C, the result is fast, accurate, and near-silent focusing. Internal focusing means the lens dimensions remain constant at all focus distances.
Compact Leaf Shutter - Silent and Low Vibration
The XCD 3,4/75P uses the same compact shutter module found in the XCD 2,5/55V and XCD 2,5/38V lenses. This shutter is notably quieter and lower in vibration than traditional leaf shutters, making it particularly well suited for shooting in quiet environments - documentary work, environmental portraits, theatre, and indoor events where an audible mechanical shutter would be intrusive. Full flash synchronisation is available at all speeds up to 1/2000s, enabling controlled flash work even in bright outdoor conditions.
55cm Minimum Focus Distance with 1:5.8 Magnification
With a minimum focus distance of 55cm and a maximum image scale of 1:5.8 (corresponding to a coverage area of 26x19cm), the XCD 3,4/75P offers meaningful close-up capability for still life and product photography alongside its portrait and street use cases.
Full-Time Manual Focus Override
A mechanically connected focus ring provides full-time manual focus override at any time, regardless of whether autofocus is active, giving photographers direct creative control whenever they need it.
Compatible with All Hasselblad X System Cameras and 907X
The XCD 3,4/75P is fully compatible with the complete Hasselblad X System lineup including the X2D II 100C, X2D 100C, X1D II 50C, and the 907X + CFV digital back combination. A 72mm filter thread accommodates all standard 72mm filters.
